What does “PWA” mean?
PWA stands for Progressive Web App. It’s a web version of Trackler that behaves like a native app:
Adds an icon to your home screen or desktop
Launches in its own window, no browser tabs or URL bar
Works across devices: desktop browsers and mobile devices
Using the PWA version gives you the feel of an app while staying web‑based and always up to date.
📱 Native app in development
We’re currently building a fully native Trackler app to support the latest version. Until then, you can use the PWA as a full-featured alternative on both mobile and desktop.
When should you use it?
Install the PWA when you want:
Quick access via icon instead of opening the browser and typing a URL
A cleaner interface with less browser UI visible
To use Trackler on your device like a standard app
How to install Trackler as a PWA
On desktop (Windows or Mac)
Open Trackler in Google Chrome or Safari.
In Chrome, look for the install icon in the address bar (often a “+” or a computer‑with‑arrow symbol). → Click Install.
Or in Chrome: open menu (⋮) → Install Trackler.
On Mac: once installed, Trackler will appear in your Launchpad, Dock, or Application folder. On Windows: it shows in Start menu or taskbar.
On Android (Chrome browser)
Open Chrome and go to Trackler (https://app.trackler.nl).
When the site is loadable, you may see a prompt, e.g., “Add Trackler to home screen”. If not:
Tap menu (⋮) → Add to Home screen.
Confirm by tapping Add.
Trackler will be added like an app icon on your home screen. Open it like any other app.
On iPhone / iPad (Safari browser)
Open Safari and navigate to Trackler (https://app.trackler.nl).
Tap the Share button (square with upward arrow) at the bottom (or top) of Safari.
Choose Add to Home Screen.
Confirm by tapping Add. The Trackler icon now appears on your home screen.
Note: On iOS, the install experience is manual (no automatic prompt) and some PWA features may be limited compared to Android/desktop.
After installation
Launch Trackler using the icon like any app — it opens in a separate window or full‑screen (depending on device).
On mobile, you’ll see it alongside your other apps.
Updates happen automatically — as long as you are online, the newest version loads.
Clearing the cache or uninstalling will remove the app, but you can always reinstall.
Tips & limitations
On iOS, you may not get all native‑app features (e.g., some notifications or background sync may be limited).
If you don’t see the install option on desktop, make sure your browser is up to date and that you’re on HTTPS.
For best experience: allow Trackler to load fully, then install; ensure device has enough storage.
Uninstalling: treat like any app — click‑and‑hold icon (mobile) or right‑click in desktop app list → uninstall/remove.
