What is a quiz?
A quiz is a set of questions you can add to a lesson within a course.
Quizzes help you to:
check knowledge
encourage participants to think actively
ask reflection questions
measure participant progress
A quiz makes a lesson more interactive.
Where do you add a quiz?
Quizzes are always added within a lesson.
Go to Courses
Open the course
Open the lesson where you want to add the quiz
Adding a quiz
Open a lesson
Click Add quiz
Add a question
Add the possible answers
Save the quiz
The quiz is now part of the lesson.
Quiz settings
In a quiz you decide when a participant is marked as passed, whether the participant can continue to the next lesson and whether participants see feedback on their answers afterwards.
Click Quiz settings in a quiz to open these options.
Passing grade
Here you set the minimum percentage of correct answers required to pass the quiz.
If you do not enter a percentage, a participant can always continue to the next lesson.
In that case, the quiz is automatically registered as 100% passed, even if all answers are wrong.
This can be useful when you use a quiz as a reflection or knowledge check, without it blocking the rest of the course.
For example, if you enter 75%:
A participant must answer at least 75% of the questions correctly to be marked as passed.
The submissions will then show whether the participant passed or failed.
Enforce passing grade
This option determines whether participants must pass before they can continue to the next lesson.
Disabled: the participant can continue to the next lesson, even if the passing grade is not achieved.
Enabled: the participant must first achieve the set passing grade before the next lesson becomes available. If the participant fails, the Try again button appears instead of the next lesson.
This is often used when a quiz is part of a mandatory learning path or when knowledge must be demonstrated before someone can continue.
Show answer feedback
This option determines whether participants see which answers were correct or incorrect after submitting the quiz.
Disabled (default): after submitting, participants only see their score and whether they passed, without any marking per answer. Existing quizzes work as you are used to, unless you enable this option.
Enabled: on the results screen, participants see per question which answers were correct or incorrect.
Enforce passing grade and Show answer feedback are separate settings. You can enable or disable them independently.
What do participants see after submitting?
After submitting a quiz, the participant stays on a results screen. It shows:
the score achieved
whether the participant passed or failed
which answers were correct or incorrect, if Show answer feedback is enabled
The next lesson only appears when the participant has passed, or when passing is not required. If passing is required and not achieved, the participant sees Try again.
Adding an explanation per question
You can add an optional explanation per question, for example why the correct answer is correct.
The explanation field appears in the question editor only when Show answer feedback is enabled.
For saved questions, the explanation is shown in the overview. If no explanation has been added, it says "No explanation added".
If you turn off Show answer feedback, the field disappears from view. The saved text is preserved and appears again as soon as you re-enable feedback.
Frequently asked questions
When do participants see the explanation?
Participants do not see the explanation while taking the quiz. The explanation only appears on the results screen, after submitting, and only when Show answer feedback is enabled and an explanation has been added for that question. Questions without an explanation show no explanation block.
What happens if a participant returns to a completed quiz later?
The explanation remains visible on the results screen, as saved at the time of submission.
